Basic things to be aware of about College education in the USA for people of India

Unlike India college education can be very complicated and challenging and you can
learn about all the differences in the college education here.

For students studying school in USA:

SAT/ACT
Take SAT or ACT tests - Practice as much as possible starting 8th grade and take the
final one as a Junior in High school (Junior ie, 11grade). Most of the course is around
10th grade.

Most prestigious colleges look for ACT scores above 28 (out of 36) and SAT scores
above 1700 (out o 2400) for college admissions

PSAT - Take this standardization test for the National merit scholarships as a
Sophomore (10 grade in High school). PSAT is offered only once in the High school and
if the student gets a good score ie in the top 95% then they may be eligible to get a
scholarship.

AP tests:

Advanced Placement (AP) tests are to be taken by high school students in Junior (11th
grade)or Senior (12th grade) years. These tests are offered by the High schools to test
